William Harry Richters

William Harry Richters October 21, 1919 - November 30, 2022 William Harry. Richters, 102, of Bristol, CT. died November 30, 2022 at Countryside Manor of Bristol, CT. He was born in Elizabeth, NJ, growing up there and then attended New York Military Academy.  He was the husband of the late Mae (Damerst) Richters for 65 years they married on April 2, 1941 and passed away on December 22, 2006.  . William served as Lieutenant in the Army from 1941 until 1946. He managed the Drake Hotel in Amherst, MA., eventually opening his own restaurant where he was head chef. He enjoyed food, hunting and fishing. He had 3 children, William, (Chip) Richters, who passed in 2011, Lynne Richters, and Lisa (Richters) Wunsche. He leaves 7 grandchildren, Tom, Scott, and Erik Sabiston, William (Chip) Richters, Elizabeth (Richters) White and Carl and Christopher Wunschel. He leaves also 10 great grandchildren. The family spent many summers at their home on Long Beach Island, NJ. Upon retirement, William and Mae moved to Cape Canaveral, FL., enjoying the beach, fishing and area offerings. He entered Countryside Manor 5 1/2 years ago. He lived a comfortable life with many friends and excellent staff at the facility. A military funeral will he at the convenience of the family in Amherst, MA. Berlin Memorial Funeral Home of Kensington, CT is in charge of final arrangements.
