Vilma Frances (Piatek) Stifel, passed away on December 30, 2022. She was 94 years young. Vilma was born in New Britain, CT on July 10, 1928. She was a lifelong resident of Kensington and recently moved to Old Lyme, CT. Vilma leaves behind two daughters Karen Stifel and Lisa Stifel and her husband Brian Skupa. She also leaves behind a grandson, Joseph Roberge and his wife Alaina and her sister, Irene Kramer. Vilma was a grandmother, a great grandmother to Angelina Saran, John and Thomas Roberge, and a great-great grandmother to Gabriel, Alex and Lilliana Saran and everyone knew her as GG. She made an impact on so many that knew her. Her kindness, patience and strong faith was how she lived her life. Vilma is predeceased by her husband John Stifel, daughters Greta Stifel Arnone, Mariann Stifel Vigilante and grandson, Justin Longo. Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023 at Berlin Memorial Funeral Home, Kensington from 9-11 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul Church, Kensington. Donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or VFW in Vilma’s name.
