Roy A. Cooper Jr., of Berlin, passed away peacefully, Friday, August 15, 2025, at the age of 70. He passed in the comfort of his home surrounded by loved ones after a three-year battle with lung cancer.
Roy was born in Meriden on February 9, 1955, son of the late Roy A. Cooper Sr. and Beverly (Landers) Cooper, and was a resident of Berlin for most of his life. After working at the Hartford Courant, he went on to become a self-employed carpenter and handyman, taking pride in lending a hand to anyone and everyone who needed it. Throughout his life, he found solace in his garden, where he not only grew vegetables to share with loved ones but also nurtured his legacy by teaching the many children in our family the joy of planting, patience, and care. He was rarely seen without a coffee in his hand and a smile on his face, a simple reminder of the warmth and joy he brought to those around him.
He is survived by his daughter, Nicole Krzeszowiec, and her husband, David, and by his cherished grandson, Ethan, all of Berlin. He also leaves behind his siblings: Pat (Ken) Glaser, William (Vicky) Cooper, Paula Cooper, Penelope Cooper, Fran (Tim) Miller, Gerard Cooper, and Joy (Samantha) Cooper, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. In addition, he is remembered with love by numerous close friends who “Coop” considered family. He was predeceased by his sister, Pam Hillstrand
Our family would like to send our most sincere gratitude to his hospice nurses, especially Susan.
Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours, Friday, August 22, 2025, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Berlin Memorial Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Kensington. A Prayer Service will follow at 11 a.m. in the Berlin Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Maple Cemetery, Berlin.
