Robert M. Pierro, M.D. 64 of Newington passed away on Saturday January 4, 2014 at Hartford Hospital.  Born in Waterbury he was the son of the late Michael J. and Agnes (Akumback) Pierro. 

Robert graduated from Wooster School in Danbury 1967, University of Virginia 1971 University of Connecticut Medical School M.D. (specializing in psychiatry; expertise in psycho-pharmacology)  He spent the early part of his career in private practice.  Most recently, he was on the medical staff of Connecticut Valley Hospital.  Robert loved cooking, fishing, photography, philately, politics and the Redskins even when they lost.

Robert is survived by one son Michael A. Pierro of Newington, a sister Darlene B. Pierro of Rockville, MD. And his former wife Joan Spillane. 

Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Wednesday January 8, 2014 from 10:30 – 12:00 a.m. at the Berlin Memorial Funeral Home 96 Main Street Kensington, CT.
