Philip J. Lewchik, 70, a beloved brother unexpectedly passed away on June 24, 2025. Philip was born in Hartford on October 30, 1954 to Fred and Irene Lewchik. He was a lifelong resident of Berlin graduating from Berlin High School. He continued his higher education at Wilcox Technical School fulfilling requirements as a Tool & Die Maker. He earned his Associates Degree from Hartford State Technical College and worked alongside his father at Co-op Jig Boring for many years before becoming owner and President.
Philip loved to dance and spent many hours on dance floors whenever he could. He was often a competitor at Arthur Murray Ballroom dancing extravaganzas. Philip loved teaching his nieces, nephews and grandnieces new dance steps.
Philip was an accomplished musician on both guitar and piano and taught himself how to play the violin. He loved teaching music to his nephews and grandnieces on the guitar.
Philip loved to host pool parties with friends and family always serving good treats. Golfing with nephews and buddies was a favorite pastime as well as card games with friends. Philip had a wonderful smile and loved to share a joke with a hearty laugh at the end. He was a die-hard New England Patriots fan, even when they left him heartbroken.
Left to mourn his death are his brother, Fred & Mary Lewchik, of Newington, sisters, Karen Rose of Atlanta, Gail & Wayne Bernaiche of Vernon, Cynthia & Daniel Wagner of Southington, Audrey & Robert Bradley of N. Attleboro and brother, Michael Lewchik and Rob Worster of Berlin.
He also leaves his beloved nieces and nephews Heather and Karl Strauss,Brent & Jami Lewchik, Bryan & Megan Lewchik, Christopher & Whitney Rose, Kimberly & Sam Patterson, Nick & Austin Bernaiche, Michael, George, John, and William Bradley and future niece in law Erin Dierickx. Grandnieces and nephews Brooke, Hailey, Jack, Dace, Connor, Madelyn and Rowan. He will be greatly missed by his long time friend, Hank Petrofsky.
Philip was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Irene Lewchik, his brother-inlaw, Sandy Rose, and niece Allison Rose.He is now reunited with his beloved dogs, Maxine, Teddy, and Lucy and his cats Millie and Mable.
Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours, Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Berlin Memorial Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Kensington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Wednesday, July 2nd at 11:30 a.m. in St. Paul’s Church, 485 Alling St., Kensington. Interment will follow in Maple Cemetery, Berlin.
