Paula “Yolanda” Rueda Zuniga, 83, of Berlin, formerly of Derby, CT passed away peacefully, Monday, November 6, 2023 at the Hospital of Central CT, surrounded by her loved ones.
Yolanda was born in Managua, Nicaragua, January 25, 1940, a daughter of the late Isidro Rueda and Maria Gomez. She was the wife of Aminto Zuniga.
Yolanda was devoted to her family and her faith. She was a strong willed, confident woman. She volunteered and donated at local charities and helped out with many community events. She was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles. She loved flowers and gardening; roses were her favorite. It brought her such joy to gather and cook for her family.
Yolanda had been employed as a bi-lingual secretary for many years in Nicaragua for US based companies. Once in the US, she worked at Union Trust Bank, Team Inc. and Todd Combustion Group.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter Melissa Zuniga Estrada and her husband Julio; her son Giovanni Zuniga; her grandson Aiden Estrada; her sister Paulina Rueda; her brother Adolfo Rueda and his wife Teresa; many nieces; and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours at Berlin Memorial Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Berlin on Monday, November 13, 2023, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
