Michael Potash Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Jon Potash on October 17th, 2025. Born on August 14, 1966, in Berlin, Connecticut, Michael leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and cherished memories.

Michael grew up in Berlin and was a proud graduate of Berlin High School, where he found joy and camaraderie playing football for the Redcoats. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Central Connecticut State University and went on to build a successful career at Aetna, where he worked for over 20 years with commitment and integrity.

Michael had a profound love for nature and cherished every moment spent by the water with his family. White Sands Beach, Lake George, and Cape Cod were among his favorite places, filled with laughter, memories, and joy. He especially treasured family gatherings in Vermont, where anniversaries, birthdays, and Fourth of July celebrations brought some of his happiest times. Michael’s devotion to family was unwavering — he would even brave snowstorms just to be there for his parents’ anniversary.

Above all, Michael was a devoted father. His children, Abigail Grace Potash and Lucas Jon Potash, were the light of his life. He took immense pride in their accomplishments and was unwavering in his support and encouragement. Michael’s greatest wish was for them to live happy, fulfilling lives.  His love for them was boundless and evident in everything he did.

Michael was predeceased by his father, Richard Potash, in July of 2016. Michael is survived by his children, Abigail and Lucas Potash, his devoted mother, Carol Potash (Hrubiec); his siblings, Richard Potash, Mark and his wife Michelle Potash ; and his nephews, Taylor, Justin, and Matthew and his wife Jocelyn Potash.

Michael also remained close with his former wife, Christine Sanford (Potash). Though no longer married, their relationship was marked by mutual respect, enduring friendship, and a shared devotion to their children.

Michael will be remembered for his warmth, his devotion to family, and the joy he brought to those around him.

Services will be privately held at the request of the family. A celebration of life will be planned at a future date to be announced.
