Maria Giarnella, 91, of East Berlin, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2014, at Masonicare in Wallingford.  She was the wife of the late Silvio Giarnella.

Born in New Britain, Maria was the daughter of the late Andrew and Civita Simeone.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in East Berlin, also the Ladies Guild and Choir.

 She is survived by four children, Lorraine Calegari of North Haven, Ralph Giarnella and his wife Sandy of Southington, Andrew Giarnella of Berlin and Thomas Giarnella and his wife, Susan of Andover, three sisters Vincenza Ciampi, Luisa Vento and Sylvia Vento, all of New Britain, eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to call on Monday September 29, 2014, from 8:00 – 9:30 A.M. at the Berlin Memorial Funeral Home, 96 Main Street Kensington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, East Berlin. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Britain.
