John Richard Allison, Jr., 82, of Berlin, Allison, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021. He was the husband of the late Geraldine (Bartose) Allison for 49 years, until her death in 2009.
Born in New York City, a son of the late John R. and Tonia (Ojala) Allison, John attended schools in Berlin and Southington. Following 4 years in the U.S. Air Force, John was employed at Pratt & Whitney as a jet engine mechanic, before working for the U.S. Postal Service, where he was a union steward for 25 years. Upon retirement, John started his own car service and volunteered at the Red Cross and the American Cancer Society as a driver. He was an avid Patriot’s fan, having seasons tickets since 1970.
John is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Michael (Natalia) Allison of New Britain, David (Amber) Allison of Berlin, a sister-in-law: Suzanne Yandow, and a special niece: Christine Yandow and his very special friend: Don Ekstrom of Berlin. Beside his wife, he was pre-deceased by a special friend, Pat Bush.
Friends and family may call at the Berlin Memorial Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Kensington on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM followed by a service. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Britain.
