Joanne Matos Ventura Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Joanne (Pelletier) Matos Ventura  announces her passing. A long time resident of Berlin, she died peacefully on April 29th 2024, in the home that she loved after a long illness, surrounded by loved ones.
She was predeceased by her parents Katherine (Kay) and Lawrence Pelletier, her siblings Anita Prete, Lawrence and Louis Pelletier, and her daughter Lisa D’Addario from an earlier marriage.  She is survived by her adoring husband Victor Ventura, her loving son Stephen Matos (from an earlier marriage) and by her  proud granddaughter Miranda Matos, grandsons Jacob D’Addario and wife Ashley, Daryld D’Addario, Deryck D’Addario and wife Lisa, and great grandchildren Grace, Jaydon and Kaylin and by her devoted caretakers; her sister-in-law, Lorraine Ventura and Melanie Church. Joanne was loved by all who knew her.

Joanne was born in Hartford where she graduated from Buckley High School before moving to New Britain where she attended St John’s Catholic Church.  Joanne worked at all three New Britain court houses in a career that spanned nearly 40 years, working long hours.  A vibrant, friendly person, Joanne was a respected and dedicated public servant, proudly serving everyone equally as the Clerk of The Court for The Superior Court of New Britain  GA15.  Joanne worked her way up from office girl to the administrative assistant for Chief Administrator Judge Roman Lexton of The Court of Common Pleas until she was promoted to Clerk of the Court, the original girl boss, running the entire Superior Court. At her retirement she was recognized with a plaque for her long service by the Connecticut Senate.
Joanne was a wonderful mother taking part in all her children’s activities. Her children hold precious memories of Joanne as a fun and ‘cool’ mom. She loved  animals and dogs especially Springer Spaniels. Joanne loved visits by Melody, the Matos family toy poodle. She enjoyed gardening with her husband Victor and she loved the state of Maine, particularly Ogunquit, the site of many happy annual trips for her and her husband.  She was an avid dancer in her youth and while  her dreams of being a professional dancer were cut short by motherhood, they were later partially fulfilled by her granddaughter Miranda, a professional dancer based in New York City.
