James Genovese Obituary

James Vincent Genovese Jr., age 90, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on the evening of October 12, 2022, at Midstate Hospital.

James was born on February 23, 1932, in New Haven to the late James Vincent Genovese Sr. and Dorothy (Petrillo) Reynolds. He was the beloved husband of the late Alberta (Hackley) Genovese with whom he had lived in the Connecticut shoreline area for many years before retiring to St. Petersburg, FL.  He and Alberta returned to Connecticut 14 years ago to be closer to the bulk of their family. 

James is survived by six of his children: Judy Janiszcak (Steve) of Westbrook, Vanessa Phillips (Anthony) of South Carolina, Nancy Cordero (David) of Clinton, William Genovese (Selene) of Wallingford, Georgette Genovese (Dominic) of East Haven, and Joseph Genovese (Dorothy) of Florida; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; his sister Veronica of Wallingford along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, James Vincent Genovese III, his grandson Robert Janiszcak and his brothers Robert and John Genovese.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 from 7-9 p.m. at the Berlin Memorial Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Kensington.  A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday at 11am in St. Joseph's Church, 195 South Main Street, New Britain. James will be laid to rest with military honors at his family plot in Maple Cemetery, Berlin.
