James H. Chase, 82, of Berlin, loving husband of Mayo M. Chase for 53 years passed away peacefully, Wednesday, June 18, 2025 in the comfort of his home.
James was born in Norwich, CT., May 23, 1943, a son of the late Robert Chase and Lorraine (Genereux) Chase and had been a Berlin resident for many years. James was employed as a Chemist and Lab Director for the Metropolitan District Commission in Hartford and was a member of St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church in East Berlin.
In addition to his wife Mayo, he is survived by his cousins.
Jim put up an amazing fight to combat cancer. He tried to do his research and abide by his findings. He did whatever he could to help his friends who were also dealing with cancer. He was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer almost 6 years ago and was told at that time to get his paperwork in order. He was not expected to survive to the Christmas of 2019. His primary care provider, his dermatologist, pulmonologist, and his oncologist provided exceptional help. In the last few months hospice care has been very helpful providing support for Jim. As Jim’s wife of 53 years, I truly appreciate his medical care. I would also like to thank Jim’s friends and our family for their support and visits.
