Irene (Wielgos) Fiori

Irene (Wielgos) Fiori, 91, of Kensington, died March 14th, 2025, in her home surrounded by her family.  She was the loving wife of the late Richard Fiori. 

Born in Southington Ct., January 24, 1934, to the late Henry and Anna Wielgos, Irene lived most of her life in Kensington and Southington. Irene was one of the sweetest persons you would ever meet. She worked for Berlin Savings Bank, the Town of Berlin tax collector and the Berlin VNA. She also volunteered in the gift Shop’s at New Britain General Hospital, and The Hospital for Special Care, the Berlin Peck Memorial Library and as a Berlin Election poll worker. Irene was a member of the Kensington Vol. Fire Dept and Berlin VFW Post 6253 Ladies Auxiliary and was also a parishioner of St Paul’s Church. She loved taking care of her beautiful African Violets and her smile lit up the room when her grandchildren and great grandchildren would come to visit. Every time we cover ourselves to keep warm with one of her hand knitted Afghans, she will be remembered.

Besides her parents, Irene was predeceased by her husband Richard Fiori, her son David Fiori, her daughter Diane Fiori Martin and her daughter in-law Linda Perretta Fiori.

She is survived by her daughter Linda Romegialli and her husband Philip, her sons, James Fiori and his partner Julie Prokop, Thomas Fiori and his wife Andrea, daughter in-law Karen Fiori; and son in-law Brian Martin; her sisters Lorraine Woodman (Joseph), Fran Pac, and Vicky Sager (Richard), twelve grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Wednesday, March 19th, 2025, at 10 a.m. in St Paul’s Church 485 Alling St., Kensington.  At Irene’s request there will be no calling hours. Burial will follow in West Lane Cemetery in Kensington.  Berlin Memorial Funeral Home, 96 Main St., is entrusted with the arrangements.  www.BerlinMemorialFuneralHome.com
