Helene (Sanefski) Knowlton

Helene (Sanefski) Knowlton, born October 5, 1943, the oldest daughter of the late Albert Sanefski and Helen (Drachenberg) Sanefski, passed on February 22, 2025.  She was a former resident of Berlin and Andover CT.

Helene was a member of the Berlin Congregational Church, where she was a member of the choir and enjoyed singing. She was an avid gardener, and a very creative craftsperson and a talented cook. She supported her kids in their endeavors with livestock in the 4-H program as a 4-H Club leader and Tolland County 4-H Advisory Council member. After raising her four children she took a job at RHAM High School as a teachers’ aide, was employed at The Savings Bank of Manchester and the US Postal Service in Coventry.

Helene leaves behind loved ones:  Sisters Virginia Chant (Paul) of Berlin and Roberta Olson (Carl) of Danbury;  her children Carol Knowlton Ward (Nelson) of Jerusalem OH; Wendy Knowlton Grano (Tom) of Columbia, David Knowlton (Linda) of Hickory NC; and Linda Knowlton Hadley (Peter) of Hebron; her grandchildren Ashley Ward (Jacob Skeval) of Jamesville NY; Emily Ward (Joey Price) of Westerville Ohio; Taylor Grano Diana (Vinny) of Manchester,  Tommy Grano of Columbia,  Kaylin Hadley and Ally Hadley of Hebron,  Christina Gionfriddo of Barkhamsted,  Aubrey Gionfriddo of Hickory NC, and Danis Higley of Naugatuck; great grandchildren Kyley and Samantha Higley, Kayden Gerlach and Izabella Gionfriddo, and Harmony Rivera.

Friends and family are invited to a calling hour at the Berlin Congregational Church, 878 Worthington Ridge, Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m.  A funeral service will begin at 12 p.m.  Interment will follow in Maple Cemetery, Berlin.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Berlin Memorial Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Kensington.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Helene’s name may be made to the Tolland County 4-H Association, 24 Hyde Ave., Vernon, CT. 06066 www.BerlinMemorialFuneralHome.com
