Fern was a loving and caring person and received great joy working for the elderly residents at the Jerome Home for over 30 Years. Fern had many dear friends and loved to tell stories about her life and what it was like growing up in Italy. Fern loved to garden and cook and spent countless hours with her sister in law Amelia DiPietro cooking, making sauce and baking bread in the backyard brick oven. Fern leaves behind 7 grandchildren --- Katherine, Christopher and Elizabeth Mikol; Nicholas and Michael Gurrieri; Philip DiPietro, Jr. and Lisa Martin (DiPietro) and her husband Ken. Fern also has 2 great grandchildren Joey and Kyle Martin. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews all of whom she loved dearly. Fern had many lifelong friends especially Rosa Vega and Virginia DeVivo. Her friends continued to love her and always kept her in their prayers. We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Vitas Home Health Hospice care and especially Jean Signor for her help and support during this difficult time. The staff at Vitas was wonderful and their help was a much needed lifeline. Also, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to Suzanne Gurrieri for “always having our back”. Sue helped make a difficult situation easier and helped to give Fern the much needed care till Fern’s passing.
