David W. Colite, Sr., 74, of Kensington, husband of Lawrie A. (Petuskis) Colite, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2019. Born in Meriden, a son of the late William R. and Helen (Swienton) Colite, David was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force stationed at the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base in South Carolina, where he was a member of the honor guard. While in the military, David traveled extensively.
David was employed as an electrician by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Southington and Middletown until retiring as in 2006. In his younger years, he was a star football player for the Southington Knights. David was a 3rd Degree member of the Msgr. Graylish K of C, Council # 3675 and was a member of St. Paul Church, Kensington.
Besides his wife, David is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law: David W. Colite, Jr. of Meriden and Timothy D. (Wendy) Colite of Bristol, two daughters: Sheila Colite of Plantsville and Tarita Colite of South Carolina, two step-children: Kim and Andrew, one brother: Dr. William R. Colite of Middletown, 8 grandchildren: Erika, Sevasti, Samantha, Abigail, Sheila Raye, Hailey, Sarah, and Dominic, one great-grandson: Hendrix, one uncle: Dominic Bologna, two nephews: Dr. Stephen (Lauren) Colite and Dr. Mark (Rachel) Colite, several great nieces, nephews and his former wife: Patricia Colite-Meyer.
Friends and family may call at the Berlin Memorial Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Kensington on Monday, August 5, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Funeral for David will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 from 8:30 – 9:30 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM at St. Paul Church, 485 Alling St., Kensington. Burial with full military honors will follow at South Kensington Burying Grounds.
