Bruce Edward Smith, 64, husband of Arlene (Ayotte) Smith, of Bristol passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the West Haven Veterans Hospital. Born in Haverhill, MA, a son of the late Edward and Lucille Smith, Bruce retired from Washington Concrete, Plainville as a sales rep. He was a veteran of the U.S.
Army, serving during the Vietnam era where he received 4 medals. Bruce enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, camping, car racing, football and was always ready with a joke.
Besides his wife, Bruce leaves 6 children, Brian (Heather) Smith, Glenn Quirion, Jeffrey (Pam) Smith,
Shelby Dorsey, Tony Quirion, Michelle Edwards and a very dear son-in-law, Rick Edwards, 11 grandchildren, Joshua, Nicholas, Courtney, Chelsey, Austin, Brian, Zackery, Tiffany, Michael, Taylor and Tyler, a brother, Wayne Smith, a sister, Cheryl Welch, many nieces, nephews and a sister-in-law,
Debra Ayotte, who was considered his sidekick. Bruce was predeceased by a dear daughter-in-law, Melody Quirion. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A chapel service will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Veterans’ Cemetery in Middletown. Burial with military honors will follow.
