Allen R. Trowbridge Sr. 78, of Kensington passed away on March 13, 2014 at Hartford Hospital.  He was the loving husband of Jeriann (Esposito) Trowbridge of 56 years and the son of the late Albert and Edith (Keidash) Trowbridge.  Allen was born in East Berlin on September 27, 1935.

Allen was a proud veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War. He was the owner of Allen’s Oil, Heating and Air Conditioning in Berlin for 16 years.  Prior to owning Allen’s Oil he worked as the Service Manager at Snowman’s Oil in New Britain for 35 years.  He was also a member of the American Legion.  Allen was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and working in his yard and garden.  In his retirement years he spent many hours in his workshop building everything from birdhouses to furniture. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Besides his loving wife he is survived by three children, Faith Kaczynski and her husband Mark of Kensington, Allen Jr. Trowbridge and his wife Debbie (Hill)  of Colchester and Ellen Trowbridge of Kensington, one sister Lucille Grady of Plainville, four grandchildren, Bryan and Christopher Trowbridge, Matthew Kaczynski , Tiffany Trowbridge-Bernard and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Ruth Locke, Mertin, Lloyd, Everett and Robert Trowbridge.

Friends and family are invited to call on Wednesday March 19, 2014 at the Berlin Memorial Funeral Home, 96 Main Street Kensington.  Calling hours are from 4-7 pm.  Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
