Florence “Flo” A. Costa, 76, of Southington, wife of the late Joseph S. Costa, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday May 10, 2018 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Bridgeport, CT, Flo was the daughter of the late Arthur W. and Anna V. (Baluha) Shortell. Flo was employed as a secretary at William B Meyers, Leverty & Hurley and McCrellis Welding for several years. Most recently, Flo enjoyed her many friends at Flanders West in Southington CT, which is where she lived for the past 19 years. She was a caring and generous neighbor, often cooking, baking, cleaning and lending whatever helping hand was needed by her neighbors and friends. Flo also loved Bingo and the casino, and organized many trips for her community.
Flo is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Lisa and Bill Salza of Manchester CT, a sister Mary
Besse of Bristol CT and a grand fur-baby Mya. She is also survived by three step grandchildren, Lauren Michelle Salza of Bridgeport CT, Joseph & Lauren Salza of Wallingford CT and Nicholas Salza (fiancé Olivia Cichon) of Derby CT, a step great granddaughter Amelia Catherine Salza, her best friend Rose Dunlap and several other close friends at Flanders West in Southington CT.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the State Veteran’s Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown CT.
