Edmund J Picard

Edmund J. Picard of Kensington passed away on February 6, 2017.  He was predeceased by his loving wife of 67 years, Arline (St. Jean) Picard June 7, 2016.

Born in Grand Falls, Canada April 5, 1927, he was a son of the late Levite and Marie Laura (Bois) Picard. 

He honorably served his country in the US Army during WWII.  He retired from Stanley Hand Tools where he worked as a buffer/polisher for 42 years.  He’s been a resident of Kensington since 1953.  He was a carpenter by trade and did remodeling jobs for decades during his spare time. He enjoyed taking senior trips with his wife to Las Vegas and Atlantic City. He was a member of the VFW, AARP, Berlin Seniors, and the Senior Berlin & Plainville Bowling Leagues, and was a member of St. Paul Church in Kensington.

Edmund is survived by his three children Arlinda Ripolone and her husband James of Texas, Dianna Laderoute of Kensington and Edmund Picard and his wife Cheryl of Naugatuck. Four grandchildren Tina, Karl, Michael and Alicia; eight great-grandchildren Autumn, Noelle, Emilie, Corry, Breanna, Karlie, Allison and Cynthia; one brother, Claude and Pauline Picard of Wethersfield; and five sisters, Rita Desjardins of Manchester, Cecile Boucher of Newington, Pauline Staples of Enfield, Irene White of NC and Lucille and Olivio Oakes of Vernon.

He was predeceased by four brothers Thomas, Leo, Rene and Hubert, and his son-in-law Lawrence Laderoute.

A funeral service will held on Saturday, February 11 at 9 A.M. at the Berlin Memorial Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Kensington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial  10:00 A.M. at St. Paul Church Kensington. Burial will follow at Wilcox Cemetery in East Berlin.

Friends and family are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday, February 10 from 4 – 7 P.M.
