Anthony "Tony" Carson Obituary

Anthony "Tony" William Carson, 97, of Berlin, CT passed into eternal rest on Saturday, August 18th surrounded by his family. Anthony was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Gloria (DeFazio) Carson, his youngest daughter Patricia Ann (Carson) Green of Centerville, MA and by his brothers Daniel and William Carson. Anthony is survived by his loving grandson and caregiver Michael A. Haynes, his devoted daughter and caregiver Lucinda Ann Carson and her partner Christopher Barnard, all of with whom he resided.  He is also survived by his daughter, Jacqueline (Carson) Willametz and her spouse Tom of Southington, sons-in-law Lenny Haynes and Randy Green, and his grandchildren Julia Willametz and her partner, Kyle Sarvey, Emily (Willametz) Rose and her spouse Jason, Alan Green and his spouse Katey and Sarah Green and her fiance Cody Edwards as well as nieces and nephews especially niece Lisa Carson Ricci of Rocky Hill. Anthony was the son of the late Nicholas "Duke" and Lucy (Pallotti) Carson. Born in Hartford on April 9, 1921, he spent his formative years in Hartford and at his grandparent's homestead in Kensington. He was a participant in the United States Civil Conservation Corp (CCC) stationed during the Great Depression at Mullen Creek Camp in Centennial,Wyoming. Anthony trained as a barber, following in his father's footsteps. Anthony retired from the CT State Dept.of Motor Vehicles in Wethersfield as a maintenance worker and spent his retirement enjoying his family and guiding his grandchildren with his “down home wisdom”. Anthony was a singer in the 1950's and performed in minstrel shows and nightclubs. He was also an accomplished bassist and was a member of the New Britain Musicians Union.  Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Paul Church, 485 Alling Street, Kensington, on Tuesday August 21, 2018 at 10:00 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at Maple Cemetery in Berlin. Berlin Memorial Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Cancer Society. Lucinda would especially like to thank from the bottom of her heart Kelly Smith and the nurses from Hartford Healthcare at Home who treated Anthony with compassion and dignity. Also assisting and comforting was Crystal Gabianelli, Michael's partner.  A special thanks to Chris for his 14 years of friendship and for always cooking special meals.
