Virginia (Carnot) Matyka died peacefully at Southington Care Center, surrounded by her loving family on April 15, 2017. She was 84 years old.

Virginia was born in Shamokin, PA on 5/10/1932, the daughter of the late Leo and Veronica Carnot, she came to CT as a child and lived in Meriden, moving to Kensington, when she married Walter Matyka, Sr.  Virginia retired from New Departure (General Motors) and was a member of the Ladies Guild and secretary for UAW.  She was a loving mother and best friend.

Virginia is survived by a son:  Walter Matyka, Jr. and wife Kelly, 3 daughters:  Virginia Majewski, Cindi and her husband, Tom Baldyga and Mona Lisa Matyka, all of Berlin.  Grandchildren:  Marlo Matassa and Julie Baldyga and 2 great grandchildren: Patrick Matassa and Lily Matassa. 

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on 4/28/2017 at St. Paul Church in Kensington.  Burial in Maple Cemetery was private at the request of the family. To share memories of Virginia please visit www.berlinmemorialfuneralhome.com
