Valeria Elizabeth Bukowski, passed away on March 20, 2017 at the age of 103. Born August 13, 1913 she resided in New Britain all of her life. She was a well known fixture at Lech's Food Market on Broad Street where she worked for many years.

Valeria experienced many” firsts” in her long life including the introduction of automobiles, radio and television, refrigerators, appliances and many of things that today we take for granted. She experienced two world wars, the great depression and a universe of changes. Throughout her life Valeria was a woman who was “classy” through and through.  Always impeccably dressed and well groomed she was a wonderful hostess and homemaker. She loved preparing holiday meals for her family. Always the perfect “lady” she was a prime example of her generation..

She was predeceased by her husband and best friend, Stanley, a son Robert, a daughter-in-law June, several bothers and a sister.

She is survived by her son, Harry “Butch” Bukowski of Kensington, her sister, Florence Nowak of Berlin, a daughter in law, Marion Two granddaughters and their spouses Wendy and Brian Boissonneault. Lynn and Michael Kuzina, Two grandsons and their spouses Robert and Laura Bukowski Allen and Debbie Bukowski and several nieces and nephews including a very special niece, Cathy Salafia and her husband Ron with whom she was exceptionally close.

Her family would like to thank Ledgecrest in Kensington for the excellent care provided to Val.

Calling hours will be Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 8-9 am at Berlin Memorial Funeral Home 96 Main St. Kensington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church on Broad St in New Britain.  Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Burritt St. New Britain.
