Richard Potash, 78, of Berlin, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2016 in New Hampshire, with his loving family by his side.

Born in New Britain, July 4, 1938, a son of the late William and Rose (Spensieri) Potash, and the beloved husband of Carol (Hrubiec) Potash.

Dick retired from US Tobacco in 2001.  The great pleasures of his life were his family, spending time in Vermont especially with family and friends, watching and wagering on horse racing with the boys in New Britain and in Saratoga, enjoying the winters in Florida and stopping to greet every dog he ever passed.  He spent two years in  Korea where he was the Lead Trumpet in the 8th United States Army Band, and was a parishioner of St. Paul Church in Kensington.

Besides his wife, Carol, he is survived by three sons: Richard Potash and his wife, Lynn, of Berlin, Mark Potash and his wife, Michelle, of East Haddam, Michael Potash of Vernon and daughter-in-law Christine  Potash of Ellington, five grandchildren: Taylor, Justin, Abby, Matthew and Lucas Potash, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, William Potash and a sister, Joan Gasperini.

Friends and family may call at the Berlin Memorial Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Kensington, on Friday, July 22, 2016, from 9 – 11:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 A.M. at St. Paul Church, 485 Alling St. Kensington.  Burial with military honors will follow at Maple Cemetery in Berlin.
